Tell Champ which provider profiles need attention. Champ can upload certificates of insurance (COIs), fix attestation errors, reach out to providers for missing information, and keep your credentialing system updated. Describe the workflow in plain English or share your SOP; Champ helps build and test it.

CAQH automation uses software to complete repeatable tasks in the CAQH Provider Data Portal and the follow-up around them. Champ brings together profile updates, document uploads, error correction, and provider outreach so your team can get profiles ready for review.

The portal is also widely known by its former name, CAQH ProView. CAQH rebranded as DataSpring, powered by CAQH in June 2026. DataSpring continues to refer to the service as the CAQH Provider Data Portal.

What can you automate in CAQH?

Champ can work through the browser to maintain provider information and connect the portal to the rest of your process. Useful starting points include:

  • Profile updates: keep professional and practice information aligned with your approved provider records.
  • COI and document uploads: collect current certificates of insurance and upload them to the correct provider profiles.
  • Attestation-error correction: resolve missing or inconsistent information using approved records and provider responses.
  • Provider outreach: request missing details and documents, follow up, and use the responses to complete profiles.
  • Reattestation preparation: track upcoming dates and get profiles ready for provider review.
  • Payer access checks: see which intended organizations have access and surface gaps for action.
  • Status tracking: bring profile, document, and attestation information back into your existing tracker.

Keep provider profiles current

A new practice address, renewed license, or change in professional information can create work in several systems. Champ can read the approved change from your provider data system or supplied roster, find the corresponding CAQH profile, and update the relevant fields through the browser.

The workflow can then record what was updated in your credentialing system. If two sources disagree, Champ can flag the difference for review so your team can resolve it before the profile is changed.

Automate CAQH COI uploads and renewals

Champ can retrieve a provider’s current certificate of insurance (COI), match it to the correct CAQH profile, and upload it along with other required supporting documents. It can then check the document status shown in the portal and record the result in your credentialing system.

If a current COI is missing, Champ can reach out to the provider to request it and follow up. Once the document is received, the workflow can upload it and update the provider record. Your team gets the current document into CAQH without manually chasing each renewal and moving each file.

How does Champ fix CAQH attestation errors?

Champ can review the errors shown during attestation, correct profile information using approved provider records, upload missing supporting documents, and check whether the errors have cleared. When a correction needs information from the provider, Champ can contact them and use their response to complete the missing details.

CAQH’s published guidance requires reattestation every 120 days, or every 180 days for providers practicing in Illinois. The workflow should use the applicable requirements and dates shown in the portal. Provider review, attestations, and signatures remain with the person authorized to complete them.

Collect missing information directly from providers

Champ can contact providers to request the specific details or documents missing from their CAQH profiles. That could be a renewed COI, an unanswered profile question, or information needed to resolve an attestation error. The workflow can follow up and capture the response.

Champ then uses the supplied information to update the profile, upload the document, and record progress in your credentialing system. Provider outreach can include phone calls when needed. Your team can see which requests have been resolved and which still need a response.

Check that the right organizations can access a profile

A maintained profile needs the appropriate sharing permissions. DataSpring’s provider guidance explains that providers control which parties can access their information for credentialing and related administrative work.

Champ can compare your intended payer list with the access information available in CAQH and identify missing authorizations. That gives the team a clear next action when a payer says it cannot retrieve a provider’s information. Any permission changes follow the provider’s authorization.

How do you automate CAQH with Champ?

Describe the work you want completed and where the result should go. Champ’s Builder Agent helps turn those instructions into a workflow that is tested against your systems.

Review the providers on this roster. Upload their current COIs to CAQH, fix attestation errors using our approved records, and contact providers for any missing information. Update our credentialing tracker and show which profiles are ready for review.
  1. Describe the outcome. Use a plain-English instruction or share the SOP your team follows today.
  2. Connect the systems. Provide the authorized CAQH access, provider records, and document sources the workflow needs.
  3. Test, then run. Review representative providers and confirm the updates and returned results before repeating the work across the roster.

You do not need to write browser scripts to explain the task. Start with a recurring job such as COI uploads, then add attestation-error correction and provider outreach to complete more of the process.

Can Champ connect CAQH to our credentialing system?

Yes. Champ can work across any credentialing platform, provider data system, EHR, or practice management system your team accesses through a browser. A prebuilt connector is not required for browser-based work.

Your credentialing system can supply the provider roster and receive updated profile status, document details, and outreach results. Your document system can supply renewed COIs. Champ connects those steps so staff can work from the systems they already use.

A custom CAQH API integration is not required for this browser-based approach. Where an existing integration is available, it can be combined with browser automation.

What happens when the portal does not provide the answer?

Champ can continue an administrative workflow by phone when CAQH or a payer portal leaves a question unresolved. For example, it can follow up with a payer about whether the provider’s information was received and record the response in your enrollment tracker.

The response goes back into your enrollment tracker so your team can see what was confirmed and what still needs follow-up.

How does CAQH automation support provider enrollment?

CAQH maintenance supports the wider enrollment process by keeping the provider information used in that process current. Payer applications, requests for additional information, and enrollment follow-up can then continue across the other systems involved.

A complete CAQH profile does not, by itself, confirm payer approval or an in-network effective date. Those outcomes must be confirmed with the payer.

Our provider enrollment automation guide covers the broader process, including payer submissions, follow-up, and effective-date confirmation.

Frequently asked questions

Can Champ automate a custom CAQH workflow?

Can Champ maintain CAQH profiles for a provider roster?

Yes. A workflow can process a supplied roster and record the result for each provider, including uploaded COIs, corrected errors, provider responses, and profiles ready for review.

Can Champ automate CAQH reattestation?

Champ can check reattestation dates, fix attestation errors, update profile information, upload COIs and other supporting documents, and contact providers for missing details. Required review and attestation are completed by the authorized person.

Is CAQH ProView the same as the DataSpring Provider Data Portal?
